Working Definition:

A lesson plan is the intended format for daily or unit-based instruction.  Preparing a well-written lesson plan is very advantageous for teachers, especially new teachers.  A lesson plan helps to ensure that the important aspects of instruction have been considered and addressed.  Written plans provide security and assist teachers in staying on track.  Reflecting on lesson plans will allow teachers to make improvements for future lessons.  A written plan helps other team members and substitute teachers to become aware of the learning objectives that are the focus of the lesson.  Besides content, lesson plans should also address the diversity of students in today's classrooms, so that all students can attain the instructional objectives.  Planning differentiated and cooperative learning activities will help teachers meet the needs of a wide spectrum of students.  Instruction should also involve planning which takes into account the demands of inclusive and special education.

Page Overview:

With these wiki pages, we have provided resources for educators and future educators of the class to reference for lesson plan ideas.  We have included separate pages for separate categories as you can see below.  Also included in these pages are articles, research, and tips for effective lesson planning.  Each category includes five to fifteen Internet resources.  Furthermore, we have provided a section with guidelines for writing successful plans.  Our goal was to help teachers and future teachers avoid the "blank page" effect and to get ideas for lessons from an array of sources.  We hope you find these resources useful!

stephen ransom:Hey, folks. It looks like you had a great deal of code that was messing up your page. Did you by any chance copy/paste from Microsfot Word or some other program? If so, I would not suggest doing it any more, as you can see the result. I just went in and edited the code of the page, removing all of the formatting code that Microsoft Word generates.
